People With Additional Needs

For over four decades Westfield Community Centre has been involved in providing a variety of  services to the elderly. It has cared for thousands of elderly people during this time including a number of centenarians. Today the centre provides 5 days a week provision for disabled or socially isolated, economically deprived elderly people. The Westfield Community Development Association has provided this care by subsidizing:

  • Hot nutritious lunches
  • Transport to and from the centre in the centre’s wheel chair accessible buses
  • Accommodation  for befriending and  social activities for the disabled elderly and those suffering or recovering from stroke.
  • Respite care for  family carers
  • Advice and support.

We deliver these services by engaging and supporting a team of over 20 volunteer  befrienders, drivers and escorts, many of whom are elderly/retired people .
